Dorothy Mae Thomas

Dorothy Mae Thomas, 88, of Janesville passed away peacefully at Mercy Hospital & Trauma Center on Thursday, June 9, 2011 with her special companion Daniel Andreola and her niece, Kathy Steinmetz holding her hands. Dorothy was born in Chicago, IL on September 17, 1922, the daughter of Linus and Frances Porter Waterman. She married Lyle L. Thomas November 23, 1946. He preceded her in death July 11, 1999. Dorothy was employed in the public relations department of Parker Pen Company for over 30 years. Following retirement she worked for Donna’s Fashions in Lake Mills for 15 years. She was a member of Cargill United Methodist Church, life member of O.E.S. Chapter # 69 and Past Noble Grand of American Rebekah Lodge # 26.

Surviving are her husband’s 2 sisters, Audrey Steinmetz and Lorraine Wick, his brother, Ronald Thomas, 10 nieces and nephews and her companion of the past several years, Daniel Andreola. She was preceded in death by husband Lyle, her son, Stephen, her parents, Linus and Frances Waterman, a nephew Gary Wick and her dear friend, Dorothy Knox.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, June 17, 2011 at Henke-Clarson Funeral Home, 1010 N. Wright Rd., Janesville with Rev. Forrest Wells officiating. Burial will be in Shopiere Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the Henke-Clarson Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Rock County Humane Society. www.henkeclarson.com.
